Following the end of a second sitting of Baranavichy constituency election commission No. 5, local observer Siarhei Housha asked the commission head Mrs. Tatsiana Latyshava to allow studying the minutes, which she rejected.

“I cannot agree to this approach of the constituency election commission head, since the national legislation provides for the transparency of election procedures at every level. Art. 34 of the Belarusian Constitution guarantees the observers’ right to receive, store and disseminate full and timely information on the activities of state bodies. The openness is also provided by Par. 1 Art. 13 of the Electoral Code. However, the constituency election commission still keeps the information in secret,” says Mr. Housha.

The observer says he is going to appeal the violation at the Central Election Commission.
