Mahiliou pro-dem activist appeals denial of registration to his initiative group
Mahiliou pro-democratic activist Aliaksandr Irkho has lodged a complaint with the Central Election commission, urging the officials to reverse an earlier decision by the election commission of constituency No. 86 to deny registration to his initiative group.
“I submitted applications for registration of 11 initiative groups in 11 constituency election commissions. All of them comprised the same people. The groups were registered at 10 constituencies, while one of them denied registration. In its decision, constituency election commission No. 86 said it could not find the personal data of three members of my initiative group,” says Aliaksandr Irkho.
Mahiliou human rights defender Barys Bukhel says the incident shows lack of universal understanding of legal provisions by election commissions, as their members treat the Electoral Code differently.
