Hrodna member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Raman Yurhel has lodged statements with the Central Election Commission and the Prosecutor General’s Office, urging the high officials to investigate alleged violations by local election commission No. 48.

The human rights defender argues that the constituency election commission members might have falsified the number of registered initiative groups, as the data provided by local government-owned newspaper “Hrodzenskaya Prauda” do not coincide with the figures reported by the commission. Raman Yurhel suspects election officials of forgery under Art. 49 of the Electoral Code.
