Leanid Markhotka, leader of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee’s Salihorsk office, keeps urging local authorities to provide information on nominations to local constituency election commissions, submitting another complaint to Minsk regional executive committee.

Mr. Markhotka says that voting for a list of 691 nominees took only 20 minutes, which raises suspicions that earlier assemblies at the town’s enterprises that nominated their representatives to the election commissions were just as formalized.

Therefore, the observer sent a letter to chairman of local executive authorities Aliaksandr Rymasheuski, urging the official to provide information on each nominee. However, the high official refused to disclose the data.
