Salihorsk human rights defender Leanid Markhotka has lodged a complaint with the Central Election Commission, contesting a decision by the town’s election commission No. 68 that denied him access to papers submitted by potential candidates.

The complaint was lodged after the commission ruled not to allow the observer studying the nomination documents submitted by the candidates running in the constituency.

Leanid Markhotka, activist of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, says that the ban violates Art. 13 of the Electoral Code, as it does not prohibit observers’ access to election papers.
