Mrs. Aksana Samuilava, Mahiliou activist of the Tell the Truth campaign, is suing the election commission of constituency No. 79 after it denied her registration as a candidate for Parliament.

During the consideration of Mrs. Samuilava’s complaint at a sitting of the Central Election Commission on 28 August, the potential candidate said she was denied registration on false grounds. In particular, the election officials argued that at least 15 signatures submitted for the activist’s nomination were found invalid. However, Aksana Samuilava says she has visited all of the 15 supporters and they confirmed the validity of their signatures.

“Despite the fact we had the 15 written statements by voters, our complaint was dismissed. The sitting was attended by Viktar Harbaniou, chair of the election commission, who claimed he did not receive any complaints,” says the activist.
