Baranavichy TV bans pro-dem candidate’s election address
The “Brest” regional state-owned TV channel has taken off the air the election address of Baranavichy candidate Anzhalika Kambalava (United Civil Party), who is running for Parliament in constituency No. 5.
In her speech, the candidate says there is no independent TV and mass media in the country, no fair trial and laws, no education in the native language. She also said the country still holds political prisoners. Mrs. Kambalava also called on voters not to go to the polling stations.
“There were no calls for war or violence in my address. I expressed my civil stand on the current elections and said that we do not have any democracy, but only political prisoners. The Brest TV company did not broadcast my address, which is yet another evidence of unfair and non-free elections,” says Anzhalika Kambalava.
