Former candidate sues Brest City Executive Committee
Aliaksandr Melnik, a Brest citizen who ran for the
Parliament at the latest election at the Brest-Western constituency #1, filed a
lawsuit to court after receiving an answer from the city authorities.
Mr. Melnik required the Brest CEC to initiate administrative proceedings
towards the head of the precinct election commission #39 Leanid Valabuyeu.
According to the ex-candidate, this official grossly violated the Electoral
Code, first by prohibiting him to watch the vote counting and then – by
transferring this procedure to the office of the deputy chief medic of the
Brest railway hospital. The CEC officials answered that there were no reasons
to start administrative proceedings as Valabuyeu hadn't violated anything.
That's why in his lawsuit to the Leninski District Court of Brest
Aliaksandr Melnik asks to recognize these actions of the Brest authorities as duty inaction.
