Mahiliou Kastrychnitski district police department has denied prosecution of election officials as requested by local observer Natallia Samakhvalava, who argued that the election commission No. 22 (constituency No. 86) considerably overstated voter turnout in the constituency.

The tax inspection of the town of Rahachou, Homel region, is still harassing local opposition activist Dzianis Dashkevich, former candidate for Parliament in September 2012 elections. The tax authorities demand 600,000 rubles of taxes from the activist.

STRASBOURG, France -- The European Parliament has strongly criticized the recent parliamentary elections in Belarus, noting they failed to meet many basic democratic standards.

Aliaksandr Melnik, former candidate for Parliament in Brest-based constituency No. 1, has received replies to his complaints of alleged election violations submitted to the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of Leninski District.

The Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal of former candidate for Parliament Ihar Sluchak against a CEC’s decree due to the "absence of the applicant’s right to appeal to court." The Supreme Court explained that the opportunity to appeal decisions of the CEC is not provided by the Electoral Code.

Back on 20 September, Milana Kharytonava, press photographer of the Brestskiy Kurier independent newspaper, lodged a complaint with the chairman of constituency No. 1, appealing obstacles she faced while exercising her professional duties at polling station No. 44.

Vasil Lapatsin, observer representing the Fair World Party, has received a reply from Barysau-based constituency election commission No. 62, saying that his proposal to check voter lists had been dismissed.

Members of Zhlobin district office of the Belarusian United Left Party “Fair World” have received runaround replies from local Prosecutor’s Office and the Central Election Commission to their complains against several violations during the parliamentary elections, says former candidate Valery Rybchanka.

Barysau District Prosecutor’s Office dismissed on Friday a complaint lodged by Vasil Lapatsin, observer representing the Fair World Party at polling station No. 25 of constituency No. 62, who argued that chairman of the election commission Anatol Kuchko refused to show the original of the final voting record. The decision referred to the “absence of any elements of an administrative offence”.

Election rigging reports have been redirected “for consideration on the merits” to Orsha town department of internal affairs, says a reply received by independent observers Mikalai Dziamidau and Yauhen Anishchanka from local office of the Investigative Committee.

On 1 October, Piotr Andryevich, former member of constituency election commission No. 8 and activist of the Belarusian Popular Front Party, submitted an appeal to the Prosecutor of Malaryta district urging the official to investigate election rigging allegations and recognize the voting results invalid.

Baranavichy human rights defender Siarhei Housha has submitted a complaint to the Minister of the Interior, appealing illegal actions by the officials of Baranavichy city police department and Brest police chiefs.

On 18 October, the Judicial Panel for Civil Cases of Brest Regional Court dismissed a complaint by Dzianis Turchaniak, local coordinator of the For Freedom opposition movement, who had urged the Court to redirect his complaint against the administration of Brest Leninski District for consideration by an inferior court.

Mahiliou prosecutors found no corpus delicti in the actions of the chairman of the district election commission No. 87 Aliaksandr Kazhamiakin. The decision was received by the head of the Mahiliou regional office of the Belarusian Popular Front "Adradzhenne" Zmitser Salauyou.

Aliaksandr Melnik, a Brest citizen who ran for the Parliament at the latest election at the Brest-Western constituency #1, filed a lawsuit to court after receiving an answer from the city authorities.
